About Hot Stich Baby! and Me
Hi.
I'm Laurel and Hot Stitch Baby! is, well, my baby.
I'm a 23 year old living in Sacramento "The City of Trees." By day I'm a
graphic designer, by night I'm busy sewing or crafting of some sort.
I love all kinds of crafts, my favorite being sewing, knitting, embroidery, and trying new craft ideas.
I'm the type of girl who is constantly challenging herself further and further. For example, when I was knitting more consistently, I could never simple projects, I had to challenge myself with something more complicated with each project. I tend to get bored easily, so I try to keep myself busy. I'm not the type to just sit and do nothing.
I started sewing when I was young. My mom was a Home Economics teacher way back when, so she taught me all about home arts. She taught me everything from sewing to cooking and nutrition. However, when I was younger, it was easy to get frustrated and hope for her to finish things, than for me to do it myself. For graduation from college, my parents gave me my own Janome. I've been sewing ever sense.
I knit on and off for years. I love knitting. There is something magical when you feel your own fabric grow underneath your own hands! I don't knit as much anymore, however, because sewing produces a finished project so much faster!
>What is Hot Stitch Baby?
I started Hot Stitch Baby! to share my creations. Inspired by Gala Darling's amazing fashion sense, Turtle Maggie's incredible sewing talent, along with Fluffa's good humor, and the resurfacing in domestic arts, I figured it was time to share myself. I want to share with people how great it is to make your own clothes, clothes that fit great, and fit within a normal budget. Sewing can open up a whole new world opportunities for developing and recreating fashion.
I have many goals for Hot Stitch Baby! in the future, but for now, I want to be part of the online crafting community! I've seen how close knit *ha* and great blogging communities can be. Future plans include providing tutorials, downloadable patterns, and selling creations online. I want to share with people how great it is to make your own clothes (and other items)!
I look forward to meeting you, and thanks for stopping by!
